Wild Blackberry Brambles
We picked an insane amount of wild blackberries this evening. It takes a tough and obsessed individual to take on the brambles --we had three. Ed and I took my sister Jenny with us and Rudy did some picking, too. We all have battle wounds from the thorns and bugs. It was well worth the pricks and bites. I think this is the best few hours I have had in many months.
What does one do with this many blackberries? Well, they are great in yogurt for a light morning breakfast. I made this blackberry dumpling recipe the other night with half blueberries and half blackberries -- oh so good. And my sister Jenny makes a fabulous blackberry brandy. I plan to scour the internet to find more great ideas.

The house we are renting has blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry bushes. The blueberries are abundant but the other 2 are still at least a week away from harvest. We did pick a handful of raspberries tonight to go with our chocolate ice cream...decadent!
Will's down there until tomorrow - at OPSC, if Ed can find him...
Isn't it so good to be back where there is "nature"??!! I am so glad you guys made it back. I am sure you are enjoying it -- I am jealous of your raspberry and blueberry bushes. We did go to a pick-your-own farm for blueberries, but it isn't the same as having them in your own backyard!
